Catching Up with Me {February 2013}
My Colombian Recipes is celebrating it's 4th anniversary this month. I started this blog in February 2009 in memory of my grandmother who was an amazing cook and who inspired my love for cooking. Creating this blog is one of the best decisions I ever made, as it allows me to connect with people that feel the same way about food as I do, resulting in some great foodie friends. Most importantly, this blog allows me to share Colombian cuisine and culture with the rest of the world.
I want to thank my husband, who plays a large roll behind the scenes of the site. I don't give him enough credit 🙂 Most importantly, I want to thank all of my readers for visiting my website, taking the time to leave comments, and following us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I truly appreciate it!
So, what's happened since last month's Catching Up with Me post? Well, last week I was contacted by Alejandro Vásquez, a producer at RCN la radio, one of the largest radio stations in Colombia, to be a guest on one of their programs. Here is a link to that interview, which was conducted in Spanish.
If you missed the first post of "Catching Up with Me", here is the link, and now 5 more random facts about me!

1. I was born and raised in Medellin, the second largest city in Colombia. I always loved being a city girl, but not long after moving to the United States almost 13 years ago, I found myself in a small, quiet New England town, with farms, pumpkin patches, and corn fields all around me. It's not unusual here to see a tractor driving down the road. Yes, this city girl is living a small-town life, with my husband, two little boys and a dog named Rocky.

2. I have a sister and a brother, and am the oldest of the three.
3. I suck at sports and have no natural athletic ability. I hope my boys get my husband's athletic prowess, at least one of them 🙂

4. I am not a dessert person, but I am absolutely obsessed with Arequipe or Dulce de Leche, and eating it by the spoonful straight from the jar is one of my favorite pastimes.
5. I became an American citizen in 2009.
I hope you are enjoying getting to know the person behind the site a little more. Don't forget to subscribe by e-mail to get all of my recipes delivered to your inbox. It's free!

Hi Erica. I am also Colombian, borned in Bogota and raised in Armenia. I also arrived to the US in 2001. I am married and have 2 beautiful boys. I love your website! Looking thru all the recipes brings back memories of my Mami's delicious meals. My husband is American and not very open minded about trying new foods so I don't really cook Colombian meals but i sure miss them 🙁 now with your recipes I'm gonna start making some (if not all) for myself! And who knows, may be my husband will try some too 🙂
Congratulations for your
wonderful website! 😀
