    Catching Up with Me {April 2013}

So, what’s happened since last month’s Catching Up with Me post? Well, if you missed my post about the Gorton's recipe challenge results, I finished in second place! Thanks again to everyone who voted for me.

What else? Well, I got a new Canon camera, a tripod and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software! It was my 10 year wedding anniversary present from my husband, along with a new desk for me to work on My Colombian Recipes. I've only just begun to learn how to use the camera & Lightroom, and I am very excited about my gifts.

Are you guys watching the Voice? I am, and I love this show! I don't watch TV during the day, because I don't have a lot of time between managing our household as a stay-at-home mom, and running my website. On any given day you'll find me driving my kids to and from school and sports practices, and cooking up recipes to share with you. Getting back to the Voice, this year I am going with team Shakira. I love the other guys, but Shakira has a special place in my heart ;-). She is very talented, smart, beautiful and she is COLOMBIAN. So, I am routing for team Shakira this year!!!!

Here are 5 more random facts about me:

    1. I am obsessed with good pens and love office supplies stores!

    2. I don't like most alcoholic drinks, but I enjoy a good margarita.

    3. Cattleya orchids are my all time favorite flowers, which are also Colombia’s national flower.

    4. I can’t think about cooking if I don't have cumin, cilantro, garlic, limes, avocados and rice. If I'm out of them it means that I need to go to the super market immediately.

    5. I love Mexican food, especially Guacamole. I can eat it 3 times a day and never get sick of it.

I hope you are enjoying these Catching Up with Me posts every month. Don’t forget to subscribe by e-mail to get all of my recipes delivered to your inbox, and it’s free! I am also on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and now Google+.

Happy Anniversary! Your gifts sound great. I love guacamole too--I could probably eat it three times a day as well!

Congratulations!!! What a way to celebrate with a truck load of gifts 🙂

Erica, Thank you for everything. For your beautiful blog and recipes and for constantly reminding me of home with your recipes while I sit and wonder how on earth are we so similar when we actually belong to places oceans apart - all including the pressure cooker :p

Those are the ingredients must have in my kitchen too (not the avocado but I love them and I can have guac. 3 times a week and do so sometimes.)

Sorry that I do not comment or even read blogs regularly, but I try to catch up one blog a day. Enjoy your gifts and looking forward to seeing a lot more!

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary! We just had our 10 year anniversary on April 19th. So thoughtful of your husband to buy you such a beautiful camera. I know it will keep you busy for awhile. There is so much to learn.

I'm like you, I don't care for most alcoholic drinks but I love margaritas.

      Hi, Erica! And felicidades!

As another pen and office supply aficionado, I wanted to suggest that you check out See Jane Work. Who knows, maybe you two will be able to collaborate on some cooking and recipe organization tools!

I also want to tell you how much I appreciate your recipes and your warm writing style. My Mom's family are from Antioquia: I miss her and my sweet abuelita Carola so much: smelling and tasting these wonderful foods from my childhood is so special to me. I made my first arepas just this week!

      Happy Anniversary!

I just got a new Nikon D7000 last month and just got Lightroom this week after watching Ben Fink use it two weeks ago. Still trying to get used to it after using Elements 9 for years. Have you tried shooting the camera tethered to Lightroom? So cool. A lot to learn.

Feliz Aniversario numero 10.
