Aguardiente Sour (Orange and Aguardiente Cocktail) |mycolombianrecipes.comPin

In Colombia we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but since I moved to the United States 25 years ago every year we celebrate it. I love this American tradition, because brings people together.

If you want to make a Thanksgiving dinner with a Latin twist all the recipes on this list are perfect for you. Today I am sharing some cocktails and appetizers to share with your guests when they arrive to your home and they are waiting for the meal to be served.

If you need more ideas for appetizers I posted my 12 Colombian appetizers and snacks you must try before.

Coco Loco literally translates to "Crazy Coconut". This drink is usually sold by vendors around the beach who make them right in front of you while you wait.

Mango and Passion Fruit Mojito Recipe
I don’t often drink alcoholic beverages because I don’t like the taste of most. However, I do sometimes enjoy a cocktail on a hot day, in the form of Margaritas, Mojitos and Piña Coladas. They are some of my favorite drinks and I love trying different flavors and variations of each of them. I made

    Plátanitos Recipe (Green Plantain Chips)
Plantain chips or Plátanitos are very popular in Colombia. You will find them in any supermarket in bags, just like you find potatoes chips in the United States. However, the best platanitos are prepared fresh at home. Try them with avocado sauce.

Marranitas or Puerquitas are a popular appetizer from the Pacific zone of Colombia. Just because we call them appetizers, doesn't mean you can only serve them as a snack or before a meal. As a matter of fact, if you eat six of these marranitas, you are not going to have any room for dinner

    Colombian Empanadas Recipe
These Colombian Empanadas are a popular snack in Colombia and are served by most Colombian restaurants in the USA. Traditionally, these delicious fritters are made with shredded pork and beef, but in my family we always make them with ground meat. Serve them with ají and lime wedges on the side. In Colombia, empanadas are.

I love appetizers, but have to exercise some restraint or I'll be stuck with 25 pounds of turkey! I could make a meal out of your starters.

If I can get a hold of some serrano ham! By all means, this is a fabulous appetizer; I also like the hummus, of course and the tortellini on skewers idea and the tuna dip and all the others, thanks!

Hi Erica. My husband is Colombian. His family lives here close to mine. I am bringing dessert to his mothers tonight. She typically makes flan, so I told her I would make the flan. I used your flan recipt and made a few modification. Mi invento es flan de calabaza! I stuck with all ingredients minus the 1 cup of whole milk. I used 1/2 cup of 100% calabaza pura, 1/4 tsp canela, 1/4 tsp ginger y 1/4 tsp of nutmeg. I followed your instructions listed. Ahorra los están en la nevera. Solamente quería competir ese con usted. Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!

I grew up in Cali as a teen and my wife is Colombian from Bogotá. I love your site because I get so many great new ideas from it and it’s always my go-to refuge for finding classic traditional Colombian recipes that we all love. We decided to depart from U.S. Thanksgiving tradition this year and do various Colombian-style “Tapas” evening along with wines and spiced cider (and a nice fire in the fireplace). We think our family and friends will enjoy it.
