These Ciruelas con Tocineta are a popular appetizer in Colombia and are a staple at my family parties. They are decadent and irresistible and they would pair well with a welcoming glass of sparkling wine.
I have no self control around this appetizer. If you put a platter with a dozen of them in front of me, I would eat the whole thing 🙂 It is an easy, simple, beautiful and delicious appetizer idea for the holidays!
Buen provecho!

I do something very similar that is a staple at all of my parties, too. I stuff medjool dates with a sharp cheese (usually Imperial Cheddar) and wrap with bacon. I call them “Man Candy” and they are always the rage!

I love the sweet and savory combo and the smokiness from the bacon makes this combo even better! Great appetizer, Erica!

Given that I think most of your recipes should come with a warning that the person is guaranteed to loose self control, I am grateful for the notice. They look delightful.

Erica, I’m a newcomer to your site, but as someone with quite a number of Colombian friends, I’m eager to try some of your recipes. Have you ever heard of this recipe being called ‘Devils on Horseback’. It’s pretty popular in English pubs here in New York City. If you’re ever in the city, give them a go at a wonderful upscale pub/restaurant called ‘The Spotted Pig’ as it’s one of their specialities. Enjoy Erica and thank you for creating this wonderful site!

I totally cannot eat dates, totally! I always felt left out, not being able to stomach bacon-wrapped dates. However, what a great Coloumbian idea! Trying this shortly with prunes!! Great!!
