Pasta with Grape Tomatoes and Basil

Here’s another simple pasta dish that’s perfect for a weeknight meal and is a great vegetarian dish as well. Easy, quick and full of flavor. I just love these kinds of dishes, don’t you? I made this pasta with grape tomatoes and basil last week and we all loved it.

Buen Provecho!



(4-6 servings)

  • 1 pound dried pasta
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 3 oz fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 pints grape tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Cook pasta in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain well and keep warm.
  2. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Add the tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper and sugar. Cook about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the pasta to the sauce and stir well to combine. Serve warm.

This is like summer on a plate! The colors are so vibrant and healthy; now, I am getting very excited to plant my herb garden. The weather is finally warming up and I have plans to put in a variety of basil (which can be so expensive when buying at the grocery store). Your recipe has really brightened up my morning!

What a delicious sounding dish, I love the extra zing that grape tomatoes add and confess like the “pop” they can make when you bite into them.

Yay I am ready for summer now! I also love grape tomatoes, just pop them in your mouth and squish them *munch munch munch* or in a yummy pasta dish like this!

simple, light, and tasty–this is my kind of pasta dish! granted, sometimes i want a rich cream sauce or loads of sausage, but other times this is exactly what i crave!
