Tamarind Juice is a refreshing and delicious cold drink made with tamarind pulp. This is a popular drink in Colombia and Latin America.

Tamarind Juice is a traditional and popular drink in Colombia. It is a sweet, sour, and refreshing juice. Jugo de Tamarindo has always been one of my favorite Colombian drinks, and whenever I visit my family in Medellin, my mom has a pitcher in the fridge waiting for me. I grew up drinking many fresh homemade fruit juices in Colombia.

What is Tamarind?
It is a tropical fruit with a sweet and sour taste popular in Asia, Africa and Latin America. In Colombia we use it to make drinks, sauces and desserts. You can make your own tamarind pulp following my recipe if yo find the fresh tamarind in their pods.

Tamarind Juice is one of those drinks that I wouldn't normally post this time of year. However, I received four emails last week asking if I had a recipe for this drink, so I decided to make it and post it.
You can replace the plain water with sparkling water and add a splash of tequila for a delicious cocktail.

Ingredients You'll Need
The printable recipe card with exact amounts and directions is below.
Tamarind Pulp:You can find it online or in supermarkets at the Latin or Asian aisles.
Sugar: To make the juice sweet, you can replace it with honey if you prefer.
Water and Ice: To make mix the juice and make it cold.
