    Split Pea Soup Recipe Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this soup, the full recipe card with exact amounts, directions and tips is below.

Dried Split Pea: you don't have to soak them before cooking, just clean well.

Water: If you want more flavor use vegetable broth.

Pork: Neck bones are popular to make soups in Colombia, they add a lot of flavor. If you don't find them just use pork ribs.

    Spices: Cumin, salt and pepper.

Vegetables: Carrots, garlic, onion, scallions, red bell pepper and potatoes.

    Herbs: Fresh cilantro or parsley.

This sounds amazing but my son unfortunately doesn't eat pork. Do you have any other protein recommendations (or perhaps I can just leave it out)?

Replace it with chicken or just omit the pork.
