    All About Colombian FoodPin

Sancochos were served every weekend in my house when I was growing up…and I hated eating soup!

Colombia is a country that is big on soups, at least that’s how it was in my house. After many battles with my mom, I fell in love with soups and here I am sharing these delicious Colombian sancochos recipes with you. I think my parents would be very proud of me for eating my soup 🙂

This dish is also popular during the holidays especially on December 25th and January 1st. You can see people making sancocho over open flame in the streets, next to the rivers or in their kitchens. I love serving this soup with avocado and white rice on the side.

    What is Sancocho Made of?

Sancochos are made with a combinations of protein, potatoes, yuca, plantain, corn, onions, peppers, other vegetables, herbs and spices. like many traditional recipes every cook and country has its own version. In Colombia we have different sancochos depending on the region.

Here is a list with some of my favorite sancocho recipes. If you don't find your favorite on this list check all my soups recipes.

I also enjoyed all of your guest posts!! All of your soups look terrific. I especially like the chicken and potato. I would have to say that when I was younger I didn't really like to eat any kind of meat and would try my hardest to feed it to the dog instead.

Loved the post and the pics though I am not a fan of soups. Once in a blue moon while dining out, sure thing, I'd love to but not everyday or every week. In India, soups have just caught on as a concept relating to keeping warm in winter or enjoying it as something you have when you dine out in an expensive or a moderately priced restaurant.

A lot of health conscious youngsters are turning to soups and parents are encouraging kids to do the same. I still think it is still a recent trend in India and I loved reading the informative comments to this post.

I'll have to come back soon and catch up on all the recent posts I've missed, especially the marvelous guest bloggers you've featured!

I love the rustic no frills nature of some of these soups although they all look amazing. I will have to try some as they will work well to warm the body with the winter weather.
