Hot Dog with Guacamole

There is something about summer that makes me crave Colombian street food. It must be that I am able to spend more time outside, like when I lived in Colombia.

While there are a lot of places to get hot dogs in Medellin, the hot dog cart on San Diego Boulevard was the most popular about ten years ago. We always went there after partying in Las Palmas because of the amazing small hot dogs with delicious guacamole and chopped onions on top. They were so good that everyone ordered two or three.

Enjoy this simple and delicious variation of hot dogs this summer!

Ingredients

Hot dogs buns
Hot dogs
Guacamole
Chopped onions

Directions

1. In a medium pot bring water to a boil. Add the hot dogs to the boiling water and cover. Cook about 5 – 7 minutes.

2. Remove and drain on paper towels.

3. Place the hot dogs in the buns and top with guacamole and chopped onions.

What a great idea, I would never thought about hot dogs and guacamole together. But now it makes totally sense to me. My hubby would love it. He is a big guacamole fan. :-)

I love the thought of guacamole as a hotdog topping! –I saw Bobby Flay making a hotdog with mole sauce and chopped avocado as toppings and started getting ideas. The guacamole sounds fresh and delicious!

Ummm, now I am really hungry! Have you ever had one with peanut butter? Someone told me that recently, I would rather have my guac!

I don’t need to wonder how this would taste – I KNOW it would be absolutely delicious! There are chili-dogs and ‘slaw-dogs but I am craving a guac-dog. 8-D

Love guacamole, in fact made some yesterday, but the idea of using it as a relish with a dog is a great one!

I have NEVER seen guacamole on a hot dog before but now that I have, it makes sense to me. I love hot dogs and guac so why not mix the two.
