Hot Chocolate with Coconut Milk-My Colombian RecipesPin

What’s not to love? For me this is heaven in a cup. Hot chocolate made in coconut milk or Chocolate en Leche de Coco is a traditional Colombian recipe and this delicious drink is perfect this time of year!

    My Colombian Recipes-Hot ChocolatePin

In Colombia we have different hot chocolate variations and we love to drink it for breakfast and afternoon snack. Chocolate Santafereño, Chocolate en Agua and Chocolate con Arequipe are some delicious hot chocolate recipes.

This recipe is one of my favorite ways to make hot chocolate. It's rich, creamy and the coconut flavor is wonderful.

Ingredients to Make Coconut Hot Chocolate

You'll find the printable recipe card with exact amounts and cooking directions below.

Coconut Milk: I recommend using a good quality canned coconut milk.

Milk: I like to use whole milk for a rich and creamier drink.

Chocolate: Sweet or semi sweet chocolate, use your favorite brand and a good quality.

Sugar: Add sugar to your taste, if you like sweet hot chocolate like I do.

Shredded Coconut: To garnish before serving.

What to Serve with Hot Chocolate

Some of my favorite breads to serve with this coconut hot chocolate for snack are buñuelos, pandebono, almojábanas and pan blandito.

If you are serving this drink for breakfast try my cheese arepas, huevos pericos or arepa de huevo recipes.

I can't find coconut extract here. Is there anything I could replace it with? Shredded coconut maybe?
