I have never understood the use of tomatillos. Now that I live in the SouthWest I see these a lot but growing up in Toronto I never did. How do they change the flavor of the salsa?

looks great, erica! salsa is something i much prefer to make myself rather than buy at the store–i like it thick and chunky and SPICY. 😉

I love a good fresh home made salsa, you can’t beat it. I just need to learn how to make my own tortillas and then fry some at home because I can just imagine how good that would be. I’ve been too lazy so far;)

Love the blue corn chips you chose to photograph. They’re so much tastier (in my opinion anyway) than the yellow corn ones!

Hello Erica, I live in Belgium and have tried some of your lovely recipes on my Belgium husband and he loves everything I have made so far. Thank you!!!
Question: I want to make your Red Tomato Salsa but I do not fine tomatillos here or fresh jalapenos (only pickeled). What other alternatives do you have? for the tomatillos, etc.
Erica says
Elizabeth- Just omit the tomatillos!
