Plantains are a very important ingredient in Latin American cuisine and are as versatile a vegetable as they come. From yellow, to vibrant green plantains, they can be both savory or sweet.

Plantains can be grilled, roasted, sautéed, boiled, fried, and even stuffed. Enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, prepared as a side, an appetizer or as part of the main dish.

And by the way, it’s never a battle getting my kids to eat their vegetables when sweet plantains are on their plates! Versatile and kid approved, what more do you want from a vegetable?

Here are some of my favorite recipes to make using both ripe and green plantains. The following list includes plantain recipes for appetizers, desserts, main and side dishes. All these dishes are easy to make, simple and absolutely delicious.

Hi Erica,
Greetings from Hungary, Europe. I am glad to find your plantain recipes because I have never heard about them and I thought them to be simple bananas. I am going to try them and mix them with our Hungaria style of taste: onion, paprika, and bacon. I am on keto diet, only veggies and meat (pork, beef). No carbs and sugar at all. Cool that you have included that calorie description as well. Thanks again and Merry Xmas and Happy 2022.
